St. Ephrem’s Benedictine Monastery, Elamdesam

In the year 2009 we purchased a property consisting of 20 acres of rubber plantation at a place called Elamdesam within the parish of Vettimattam in the diocese of Kothamangalam. The site is 50 kilometres away from Kappadu. A new monastery is blessed in the year 2014 and the community settled there on July 11th, on the Feast of St. Benedict. The community consists of five monks: Fr Reji Edavazhickal, Fr Biju Kuzhivelil, Fr. Lijo Thenganattu, Fr. Jose Vaippammadam, and Fr Bibin Pothanamuzhy. Fr. Reji is the Superior. Fr. Biju is the man in charge of the estate. Fr Lijo is the in charge of the first year postulants. Fr Bibin is in charge of the big cattle farm.
