Right from the beginning we adopted the Syro-Malabar Liturgy. We celebrate the Syro-Malabar Liturgy in a becoming way, always keeping in mind St. Benedict’s insistence that “nothing is to be prefered to the Work of God”. That is so not only at Kappadu but also in all our daughter houses. We celebrate the canonical hours of “Ramsa” (the Evening Prayer) which is the first hour according to the Eastern understanding of the day (evening and morning), “Leliya” (the Night Prayer), “Sapra” (the Morning Prayer) and “Enthana” (the Midday Prayer). The Central Celebration is the Eucharist.

Since the Liturgy is in the local language Malayalam, and we follow the simple tunes of the Old Syrian Liturgy, even the youngest in our communities can join in the singing and chanting and get into the spirit of the Liturgy. After having prayed the Syro-Malabar Liturgy for the past 26 years, we can say with deep conviction that the Liturgy is deeply Biblical and monastic by its very nature and is best prayed in a community.
